Relieve Pregnancy-Related Pain with Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care is Safe During Pregnancy and Helps Relieve Pregnancy Pain and Helps Turn Breech Babies

Chiropractic care is both safe and effective during pregnancy.

I am often asked if you can have chiropractic care while pregnant. The answer is yes! It’s actually one of the best things you can do for your body during pregnancy, and I think pregnant women need chiropractic care more than most. The tremendous physical transformation of pregnancy puts a lot of stress on the joints and soft tissues of the body. The best way to keep your joints moving well as your body adapts to these changes is to have regular chiropractic adjustments.

Up to half of all pregnant women report having pregnancy-related back  and pelvic pain.

Although it’s very common to have back pain during pregnancy, it’s not normal.  The vast majority of women who have chiropractic care during pregnancy report a significant decrease or complete elimination of their back pain.  Other common pregnancy-related conditions include neck pain, headaches, sciatica, rib pain and symphysis pubis dysfunction (pelvic pain).  All of these conditions are commonly and effectively treated with chiropractic care.

Chiropractic care helps babies find a good position for birthing.

Chiropractic care is not only beneficial for relieving pain during pregnancy; it’s also helpful for improving both the movement in and the position of the spine and pelvis.  This allows the spine and nervous system to function at their optimal level, as well as helping to maintain balance, alignment and flexibility.  With the pelvis in an optimal position, you are much more likely to have a baby who is also in a good, head down position. It is also typical for women who have chiropractic care during their pregnancies to have shorter labours due to the pelvis being in a better position for the birth. I’m specially trained in the Webster Technique that helps breech babies find a head down position and reduce the odds  of surgical birth.

Whether you are experiencing pregnancy-related spine or pelvis conditions, or if you simply want your pelvis to be in its optimal position for the labour and delivery, chiropractic care provides safe and effective treatment during pregnancy.
