
Jenna was born in Thunder Bay and raised in the rural township of Oliver Paipoonge, embracing the country life, connecting to the outdoors. Jenna comes with ample front-line experience, working in various capacities throughout the last fifteen years. She started her early career in healthcare as a personal support worker, working in home care, assisted living and long-term care, supporting people with their activities of daily living. Her journey then led her to work in daycare for two years, running after-school programming, until she returned to college where she completed the Native Child and Family Services Diploma. From there, she completed her Honours Bachelor of Social Work while working for Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN), where she provided professional development, facilitation and support to the First Nation communities within the NAN territory. Recently, she completed herMaster of Social Work at Lakehead University while simultaneously providing counselling and supportive services to individuals in both Thunder Bay and First Nation communities. In addition to this, Jenna also provides facilitation services and professional development. Jenna's broad spectrum of experience working with diverse individuals helps bring awareness to the unique needs of her clients.
Jenna believes in work-life balance and makes all efforts to embrace family time with her two teenage daughters, as well as her partner and four step-children. If she’s not working, you may find her out camping, fishing or hiking, as well as connecting to her creative side, painting or DIYing.Jenna’s practice is focused on holistic wellness, embracing all aspects of one’s well-being, through life transitions, by utilizing eclectic modalities, like ACT, CBT, DBT and EFT. Jenna believes in self-determination and autonomy, while encouraging her clients to foster healthy coping mechanisms, build self-esteem and the skill of emotional regulation.
