Dr. Leila Coulter DC, HBK
Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Dr. Leila Coulter is married and has two beautiful daughters and twin boys. She graduated from the Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology program at Lakehead University in 1998, and was awarded the Dean Braun Medal for the highest academic achievement in the graduating class. She continued her education at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Coulter graduated from the Doctor of Chiropractic program, summa cum laude, in 2002. She also completed post-graduate training in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Through this program, she attained a fellowship with the ICPA, as well as certification in the Webster Technique. Dr. Coulter is certified in Kinesio-taping and has pursued additional training in craniosacral therapy.
Dr. Coulter has also taken advanced training in concussion management protocols, and is a Trained Provider of the Shift Concussion Management Program.

Dr. Lisa Klymenko, DC
Dr. Lisa Klymenko graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis in 1990. She eagerly returned home to Thunder Bay to practice , and has remained there ever since. She is a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Chiropractic Associations. She believes that treating the entire body and integrating a multidisciplinary approach are the best ways to achieve healthy living. Dr. Klymenko is excited to be working in what used to be the original Spence clinic, a vital piece of Thunder Bay’s history. In her spare time she enjoys modern dance and photography.
Shelby Ecclestone, RMT
Shelby graduated from the massage therapy program at Georgian College in April 2012, and has since been practicing as an RMT in Thunder Bay. She grew up in Mount Albert, ON just outside of Toronto. After graduation, she moved to her partner's hometown, Thunder Bay, to pursue a career in massage therapy.
She has always known she wanted to get into the profession of helping others, and learned quickly the wide variety of benefits massage therapy can provide.
Shelby has spent the last few years working out of the Westfort Wellness centre here in Thunder Bay, and has taken a special interest in Deep Tissue treatments, sports injury rehabilitation as well as pre- and post-natal massage. Shelby is confident in her skills, and welcomes new opportunities to help expand her knowledge and experience.
In her spare time Shelby enjoys the outdoors, live music and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited about joining Healthy Families Wellness Centre and is currently welcoming new patients to her practice!
Dr. Kristy Towell, DC, BSc.
Dr. Towell and her husband were both born and raised in Thunder Bay and are happy to now be raising their own family in their beloved hometown. In 2003 Dr. Towell graduated, with First Class Standing, from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology. She then continued her education in Minneapolis, MN at Northwestern Chiropractic College where she
earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree with an additional certification in Acupuncture.
Dr. Towell has vast experience and expertise in the area of nutrition and fitness and is a Nationally Qualified IFBB/CBBF Figure Athlete, representing the Ontario Physique Association. She is a healthy lifestyle coach and has helped hundreds of people achieve their goals in the areas of weight loss, health, and fitness.
Kimberly Traverse, BSc. Nutrition, N.D.
Kimberly has completed her studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and is licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor. She received her BSc. in Human Nutrition at the University of Manitoba in 2009 where she was actively involved in community nutrition programs. In Winnipeg she also studied yoga for 2 years under Shauna Ellerby at the Yoga Centre Winnipeg, where she received her yoga teaching certification. Kimberly is happy to have returned to her hometown of Thunder Bay with a personal mission to contribute to wellness within the community. She owns Aevi Naturopathic, a private naturopathic practice here at Healthy Families Wellness Centre. Look out for her monthly health column, Superior Health in the Chronicle Journal for trending and seasonal health topics. She has a special interest in treating women’s health issues, promoting pregnancy wellness, cosmetic acupuncture, weight management, diabetes, mood disorders and digestive complaints. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor social activities, reading and practicing yoga.
Brooke Thistle, RMT
Brooke grew up in Amherstburg, Ontario and moved to London, Ontario to pursue an education in massage therapy. She graduated in 2017 from Fanshawe College, moved to Thunder Bay and is delighted to begin her career with Healthy Families. Brooke has volunteered at a variety of events and clinics and has gained valuable experience from each of these opportunities. She has a special interest in pre- and postnatal massage, infant and child massage, and fascial release techniques. She is looking forward to working with these patient populations as she continues to expand her experience in these areas.
Brooke is passionate about helping people find relief from pain and improving their day-to-day lives and is excited to help as many people as possible start living their lives to the fullest.
Amy Lovelace, RMT, BScN
Amy grew up in the Greater Sudbury area, and obtained an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy from the Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2005. She has been a practicing Registered Massage Therapist since 2006, working in multidisciplinary clinics in Kingston, Brandon, and Sudbury. She enjoys variety in practice with a focus on rehabilitation and has had the pleasure of working with pregnant mothers, athletes who had reached plateaus, and individuals experiencing acute and chronic conditions. These interests prompted her to complete additional training in perinatal massage, myofascial release for structural integration and alignment, lomilomi, ligamentous articular strain techniques, neural mobilization,and shiatsu approaches for wellbeing. Amy went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University in May of 2018. She has come to Thunder Bay to attend the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education program. Amy is excited to be joining Healthy Families Wellness Center to continue to do what she loves while pursuing further studies.
